Design review Checkout · Old vs New

Rebuilding the three-step checkout

The same three steps — Address, Review, Confirm — rebuilt around a persistent order summary. Every screen below is a real capture, old on the left and new on the right. Click any screen to open it full-size.

01

Address

Recipient, prescriptions and delivery note now sit on one page beside a live order summary, instead of a long scroll that hid what was being ordered.

  • Order summary is pinned to the right — items, subtotal and shipping target visible before any input.
  • Patient / Office became a segmented control; the long saved-patient list collapsed behind “Change recipient”.
  • A “Ready for Review” checklist states exactly what still blocks the next step.

Review

Review is no longer a list of read-only cards. Each block is editable in place, and the price the customer will actually pay appears here rather than on the last step.

  • Full totals — shipping, service fee, grand total — moved forward to Review; no surprises at Confirm.
  • “Change” and “Edit” on every block, so a wrong address costs one click, not a step back.
  • Ambiguities answered inline: billing address is labelled “required for payment” and does not change where the order ships.

Confirm

The final step now asks one question — how this order gets paid — with the consequence of each choice spelled out, and ends on a confirmation screen that says what happens next.

  • Payment methods presented as one explicit choice: new card, account credit, or send the patient a payment link.
  • Account credit shows the shortfall in dollars instead of silently failing.
  • “You’ll be charged” totals and an “All clear” check stay on screen through the final click.

How problems are shown

The old flow let a blocked order reach the end before failing. The new one surfaces every blocker where it happens and again in the summary, each with a way out.

  • Summary counts what is left: “2 left before Review”, each blocker with a “Fix this” jump.
  • Shipping restrictions name the items and offer “Remove them” in one action.
  • Missing prescription instructions are marked required at the field, not after payment.
